By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will be our community's gateway for information, inspiration and intellectual pursuits through multimedia resources, expert staff and high quality programs that involve patrons, community partners and volunteers in a welcoming environment.

We believe that a free public library promotes education and is essential to the public good.

We believe that all library patrons have the right to privacy, confidentiality and intellectual freedom and pledge to treat everyone equally.

We believe that our library facilities, resources and programs must be physically accessible to all.

We believe in providing resources and services that contribute to life-long learning and nurture the joy of reading in people of all ages .

PRIORITY GOALS 2014-2018

1. BUILD A STRONG COLLECTION

By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will have a strong collection of print and nonprint, and provide access to digital materials that serve the needs and interests of its patrons.

2. EXPAND AND DEVELOP PROGRAMS AND SUPPORT SERVICES

By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will expand, enhance, and evolve its programs and services for children, teens, adults and seniors.

3. MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE FACILITIES AND GROUNDS

By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will continue to be a safe, secure and inviting environment with comfortable furniture, an evolving floor plan to fit the needs of the patrons and continued accessibility.

4. MARKET PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THROUGH EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS

By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will enhance its communications procedures and methods to market the programs and services offered by the library.

5. IMPLEMENT TECHNOLOGY AND TECHNICAL SERVICES

By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will use technology to create efficient and effective operations and provide a continuum of innovative service options to library users.

6. ENSURE FINANCIAL STABILITY THROUGH SUSTAINABLE FUNDING SOURCES

By 2018, the Pleasant Hills Public Library will continue to demonstrate financial stability based on identified revenue streams, sustainable funding sources and stewardship.
